Sweet Basil Brooch
Basil was introduced to Europe from India and its primary use is culinary. The pungent, fresh leaves are the principal ingredients of the classic Italian pasta sauce, pesto Genovese. It is particularly wonderful with tomatoes and mushrooms. A pot of fresh Basil is also useful in repelling flies and it was once traditional to place pots of these pungent-smelling herbs on outside tables of Mediterranean cafes. Another use of Basil is in an herbal bath because of its stimulating effect.
Materials: The Sweet Basil brooch is cast in bronze and accented with white freshwater pearls.

This is a very sweet little broach. The workmanship is exquisite. I’m thrilled with the quality of Michael Michaud’s broaches. They are timeless works of art . I have 3 different broaches and am continuing to add to my collection.
