Oyster Shell Earrings
While many sea animals produce exoskeletons, usually only those of mollusks are normally considered to be "sea shells". Shells will grow over time as the animal inside adds its building material to the leading edge near the opening. This causes the shell to become longer and wider to better accommodate the growing animal inside. Each species of mollusk animal will build the external shell in specific shape, pattern, ornamentation and colour. Mollusk shells are very durable and often outlast the animal that produced them by thousands of years.
Materials: The oyster shell earrings are cast in bronze with gold over silver plate to achieve the light golden satin finish. When the two sides of the shell open, they reveal a white freshwater pearl inside. The wires are 925 silver.
