Edelweiss Jewellery

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of The Sound of Music, Michael Michaud Jewellery is proud to present the Edelweiss Collection, created in collaboration with actress and artist Angela Cartwright, who portrayed Brigitta von Trapp in the beloved 1965 film.

Inspired by the iconic flower and the beloved song that bears its name, the collection honors the enduring legacy of the film and the timeless symbolism of the edelweiss: love, loyalty, and resilience. Just as the bloom thrives in the rugged heights of the Alps, these handcrafted pieces reflect beauty born from strength.

“This flower has always held a special place in my heart,” says Angela Cartwright, who portrayed Brigitta von Trapp in the 1965 classic. “It reminds me of family, connection, and the sense of wonder that The Sound of Music continues to bring to people around the world.”

The edelweiss flower, native to alpine regions of Europe, has long been a symbol of devotion and bravery—once gifted by lovers as a rare and meaningful token. Its delicate, star-shaped form and snowy white petals have captured imaginations for centuries, celebrated in folklore, military insignia, and, of course, in one of the most iconic songs of musical cinema. With its deep cultural roots and poetic presence, edelweiss continues to evoke a sense of nostalgia, purity, and heartfelt sentiment.

Designed by Michael Michaud, the collection brings this beloved bloom to life through his signature botanical artistry—each piece meticulously handcrafted using bronze, hand-applied patinas, and Austrian crystal to reflect the flower’s natural grace and quiet strength.

Whether worn as a keepsake, a tribute to the film, or a symbol of enduring love, the Edelweiss Collection invites wearers to carry a piece of cinematic and natural history close to their hearts.
