Van Gogh Sunflower Pendant - Vase

£297.00

Vincent van Gogh was famous for his paintings of sunflowers and they have now become synonymous with his name. He began painting them after he left Holland for France in pursuit of creating an artistic community. The first ones were created to decorate his friend Paul Gauguin's bedroom in the so-called "Yellow House" that they were renting in Arles in the South of France. The majority of Van Gogh's sunflowers in vases were created here during 1888-1889.

The sunflower, a haughty plant, is the tallest in the garden. One of the favourite name for this plant is the Italian "Girasole", because the flowers literally turn their heads to follow the sun's daily course.

Materials: The sunflower pendant is cast in bronze with flowers of yellow enamel and gold leaf, accented with ambers and peridots.

Measures: Chain: 24" L (+1" adjuster); Pendant: 2.25" L. Also available in 16" chain.
